I feel like I have developed a much stronger understanding of how to proactively build strong, trusting relationships with students, create a safe space, prevent challenging situations in the first instance, have students who want to be there, are engaged and enjoy learning.
Description
This NSW NESA and ACT TQI accredited proficient teacher professional learning course, equips educators with the knowledge and strategies to create trauma-responsive classrooms. Participants will explore the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on student behaviour and learning. The course introduces practical, evidence-based approaches to support students' mental health and promote positive behaviour.
Through engaging presentations, group discussions, and practical activities, educators will learn how to establish predictable routines, manage challenging behaviours respectfully, and foster safe, inclusive learning environments. Key models and strategies covered include High Impact Engagement Strategies, Collaborative Proactive Solutions, and self-regulation techniques to mitigate stress and build resilience in students.
