This professional learning will deepen knowledge and understanding of the governing body’s obligations in relation to the Child Safe Standards. These self-paced online learning modules are designed for school governing bodies, including school boards and councils so they can ensure that school policies, procedures and practices are compliant with Ministerial Order 1359 and child safety is prioritised across all dimensions of the school culture.
This training supports school governing bodies to meet their annual regulatory requirements and to effectively ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in educational settings. The 12 modules offer self-paced, interactive content, including scenario-based examples and quizzes, to deepen participants' knowledge of creating and maintaining child-safe schools. Each module is crafted to ensure participants can engage at their own pace, with progress saved as they advance, making it convenient to complete in a single session or at different times.

Explore obligations of the school governing body, focusing on both individual and collective responsibilities to ensure compliance and active promotion of child safety. Enhance understanding of Child Safe Standards and their critical role in promoting the safety and wellbeing of children, within school environments. Learn to identify potential risks to children and implement appropriate safeguards to mitigate these risks, ensuring a secure environment for all students. Develop strategies to enhance the participation and empowerment of students, ensuring their voices are heard and factored into school policies and decisions. Enhance knowledge to effectively respond to and report allegations of child harm promptly and appropriately, adhering to legal and organisational procedures. Understand essential components of an effective child-safe policy and learn how to develop or refine these policies to align with the Child Safe Standards across the school.
