Implementing ReLATE

Our implementation approach is agile and can be modified to suit the needs of your school community and align with your strategic plan.

3-year implementation - Our flagship ReLATE program

Engaging in a partnership approach, ReLATE commences with a Discovery Day. This information gathering culminates in the delivery of a Discovery and Insights Report, including baseline data and recommendations to inform goal setting.

The next step is to support the establishment of the School Implementation Taskforce (SIT) who will complete a program logic for the school; the short-term and long-term goals identified will build on the school's strengths and prioritise areas for development. In Year One, two days of professional learning will be provided by our ReLATE Consultants and in Year Two and Year 3 professional learning will be tailored to meet the needs of the school and will be informed by data and an ongoing review of the implementation journey. Throughout the 3 years, there will also be an opportunity to access mentoring and coaching, to address issues and challenges that might arise.

Alternative options to our three-year model

If your school is interested in aspects of the ReLATE model but is not yet positioned to engage in the three-year implementation process, we have alternative options. We encourage you to talk to us about your needs and discuss how we may be able to support you and your school community.

Discovery & Insights Report

We provide a balanced summary of your school's strengths, challenges and aspirations in three ways: capturing the voices of your community through conversations and interviews; establishing a baseline by implementing baseline assessments so that you know your starting point and can measure real change; and, reviewing additional materials (existing policies, survey outcomes, etc).

Two-day foundational professional learning

Our professional learning draws on a robust body of research and this informs the ReLATE model's four foundational concepts of safety, counter stress school environments, enhanced teaching and learning and whole school sustainable change. Your school and system receive access to practical resources and templates to support the use of new strategies in the classroom. The foundational days are made up of eight of the below (standalone) modules.

Standalone modules

We have a range of two-hour modules perfect for staff meetings or supporting your professional learning agenda on student free days. The modules come with supporting resources and templates to aid staff in their teaching and learning environments. These modules will contribute to the minimum number of hours of professional learning required, by VIT, to ensure ongoing teacher registration.
