This professional learning will deepen knowledge and understanding of the governing body’s obligations in relation to the Child Safe Standards. These self-paced online learning modules are designed for school governing bodies, including school boards and councils so they can ensure that school policies, procedures and practices are compliant with Ministerial Order 1359 and child safety is prioritised across all dimensions of the school culture. 

This training supports school governing bodies to meet their annual regulatory requirements and to effectively ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in educational settings. The 12 modules offer self-paced, interactive content, including scenario-based examples and quizzes, to deepen participants' knowledge of creating and maintaining child-safe schools. Each module is crafted to ensure participants can engage at their own pace, with progress saved as they advance, making it convenient to complete in a single session or at different times.

These modules support schools to create, strengthen and maintain a child-safe environment; emphasising prevention of child harm and ensuring children's safety and wellbeing in a school setting. Power to Kids Workforce Training focuses on prevention strategy 1; to upskill out of home and residential carer workers with the confidence to have 'brave conversations' about sexual safety. This training builds carers capabilities to prevent, identify and intervene early when they see indicators of abuse.

Supporting Student Safety, Connection, and Adaptive Behaviour 

This practical two-day course is designed for school leaders, teachers, and education support staff who work directly with students experiencing dysregulation in school environments. Grounded in the Attune & Apply student dysregulation support framework, this course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to safely support students in distress and guide them toward emotional regulation and prosocial behaviour. 

Developed and refined through implementation in MacKillop’s specialist settings and ReLATE schools across Australia, the framework offers practical, relationship-based approaches for responding to dysregulated behaviour in real time while building students’ long-term coping capacity. 

Throughout the course, participants will explore how to: 

-Implement Proactive Strategies to Support Student Safety and Engagement 

-Understand and Respond to Maladaptive Behaviour 

-Co-Regulate Effectively During Moments of Student Distress 

-Position Educators and Teams for Success

This series of webinars and workshops brings together leading organisations and practitioners to support educators and professionals working with children and young people. All webinars thanks to contributions from the contributing organisations and The MacKillop Institute. Each participant will receieve a certificate of attendance for their records.

The sessions address key contemporary challenges, including online safety, anti-racist pedagogy, child exploitation prevention, managing conflict, and responding constructively to parent pushback. Delivered through a mix of one-hour and one and half hour webinars, these sessions provide evidence-informed knowledge, practical strategies, and opportunities for reflection and skill development.

Sessions are delivered in partnership with organisations such as Click Against Hate, Kids Helpline, and ZOE International, and are designed to be accessible, relevant, and immediately applicable in school and community settings.
